Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He defended 4 early opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
